Fathers Day

We didn't really have much planned for the day so Sunday was an impromptu lunch out and a trip to Richmond Park to seek out some Deer's.
Which we nervously left fate to the weather.
Our first stop was GBK. We've been there once before, the burgers are yummy and service is quick. We also have a taste card which makes them 2 for 1.
Even better...

The kids meal was the size of an a adults!

I plumped for one of the new lamb burgers with mint and feta.
It looks a little sorry for itself here but tasted good!

And you can't help but not scoff their skinny fries...

Luckily the rain stopped just as we were leaving GBK so we headed to Richmond Park.

But no Deer's.
Next time.

The sun decided to pop out on the way home so we thought we'd have a quick stop here.

We snagged the best seat in the house.
Obviously!

Some fun in the sun and then headed back to camp.

Laura Geller Gel Eyeliner Review & Swatch

I have only just recently heard of Laura Geller. Mainly from a few folk mentioning the great deals from QVC! A few months ago Birch Box featured the gel eyeliners in their box. I ended up with a couple of boxes and luckily received both colours in black and purple.

Laura Geller Gel Eyeliner

The small pots house 2.5g of product with a detachable brush that you can click into the top for a longer handle. Pretty nifty if you ask me. The brush is actually rather good at applying the liner. It's not often I appreciate the applicators that are provided with products but this is a definite winner!

The purple formula is creamier than the black and a touch harder to work with as it smudges easier which makes precision harder.  The black dries to more of a matte shade while the purple has a shimmer running through  it which is not as noticeable on.

You do need to be careful and let these dry as they can transfer to the top of the lid but once dried these babies lasts all day! I actually love the fact that it's quite a small pot as for me personally, it takes quite a long time to get through a tub of gel eyeliner. It generally dries out before I get to the bottom. The brush in the lid combined with the small pot makes for a perfect travelling product. These are pretty darn good gel liners I must say and I am keen to try other products from Laura Geller.

You can find the products from QVC here

Granola

granola bar recipe
I've been making my own Granola for years to add a bit of texture to yoghurt and fruit or a snack on the run  but I've been a bit slack in that department over the last few months and the fam have been loving the ease of cereal bars and have gone through enough to cover our sugar intake for the next year or so. In order to rein back some eating healthy habits I decided to turn my granola into bars...
Yep that didn't work at all. Really crumbly and not quite right.
So I turned to Google for help and found out peeps put peanut butter in their recipes. Say whaaaat?!
Yeah I was all over that.
So after a couple of attempts this is what I came up with. The husband is happy (phew) and the little one is not eating what pretty much solely consisted of sugar....

So whadda you need?
200g Oats
30g Dessicated Coconut
60g Nuts - I use whole Hazelnuts and crush them and Almond Flakes
60g Seeds - I use Sunflower and Pumpkin
1&1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
1/2 Tablespoon Golden Syrup
6 Heaped Tablespoon Honey
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
2 Heaped Tablespoon Peanut butter - I use the Whole Foods one as it only contains nuts and oil and no other rubbish. Plus it tastes bloody delicious!
You can pretty much add what you like so feel free to throw in some devils food raisins, dried fruit etc.

Preheat oven to gas mark 4

Start toasting the almond flakes in a dry frying pan, once they get some colour add the seeds, rest of the nuts and coconut. After a minute or two add the oats for another couple of minutes (be careful not to burn them). Once it's done mix in the cinnamon and nutmeg.
In the meantime melt the peanut butter, honey, golden syrup and vanilla extract in a large pan. When it starts to foam, bubble and rise (like below) take it off the heat and pour in the dry ingredients and mix until the ingredients are coated.

Use a square baking tray lined with baking/parchment paper and pour the mix in.
Make sure you press down well and into the corners.

Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes

Slice it up. This should make around 10 bars

If you want to make granola to crumble over yoghurt and fruit or drown in milk use the same recipe but omit a couple of tablespoons of honey and don't pack the mix into the baking tray so much.

To store the bad boys, keep in a air tight container and they should last a few weeks.

Cup of tea, a bar of this and half a grapefruit and I'm ready to tackle the day.
OK maybe just another cup of tea first....
