Glossy Box: April's Edition The Natural Box

So this month has a theme which was quite a surprise actually as they normally announce when this happens. To celebrate Earth day Glossy Box has gone for a Eco friendy theme. I really love this idea and is probably my favourite so far but I do think they could've done it a little better. i.e the last picture above is the box that the hand cream came in - It's cute and yes it can be recycled but there really was no need to send the extra cardboard!

Anyway the products..

Caudalie - Vinosource Serum (10ml) £26.10 for 30ml
I love Caudalie and the Vinosource range. The smell is just delicious and they don't lie when it comes down to the thirst quenching! I actually had a teeny sample that I opened yesterday - I am so into serums right now and this feels lovely on the skin. Look forward to trying it a bit more.

Inika Cosmetics - Lipliner (full size)  £10
Inika are a cruelty free cosmetics company. The lipliner I received was in Safari which is a medium warm brown colour. It's quite creamy but not really a colour I would use. Shame as it looks like a good liner.

Ayuuri - Natural Body Wash (full size 200ml) £4.95
Ahh this just smells lovely, a very light scent but I don't really like anything too overpowering. But of course this has SLS in so I shan't be using it sadly.

Figs & Rouge - Lip Balm (full size 8ml) £3
I received this lip balm in Sweet Geranuim from I think Feel Unique and I really did not like the 'flavour' but for some reason I preserved and turns out I bloody love it! One of my favourite lip balm's I have ever used and am down to about a 3rd left so to receive a different flavour in Vanilla and Cherry just in time is excellent! Love it and get it in your life people!

Yes! Nurse - Hand Cream (full size 50ml) £5.49
Yes! Nurse hand cream has Manuka Honey +15 which I know is really great for all sorts of things, your skin, when you are ill etc. I have a pot sitting in my cupboard just waiting to be used but I have never known how to actually use it - mental note to find out! Anyway the cream has a light and pleasant smell. It's quite thin but you don't need too much at all as it sinks in well and leaves your hands moisturised without any residue or stickiness. I have linked to the website where you can actually have a monthly subscription at £4.99 or just buy individually.

Overall I love the products and they will get used except the body wash. I did have another box with a few different products but this was the better of the two.

Did you get Glossy Box this month? What products did you get?

P.s Hello non blurry pictures! Finally figured out what was going wrong - bit of a relief I must say..

The Benefit Series: Pocket Pal Review

Tint Alone

Tint and Gloss

Had a bit of  Benefit splurge the other week so I thought I would put up a little series of Benefit product reviews. I'll start with the Pocket Pal, even though this was part of the swag I have actually had this product since last year, a birthday present from a lovely friend.

I first started using Benefit a VERY long time ago. I was surprised to learn that actually it was founded in 1976! According to Wikipedia Benetint was the first product produced which was for an exotic dancer who was in need of a nipple tint! I had no idea exotic dancers would use such things, I wonder if they still do?! Anyway it was originally named Rose Tint and later became Benetint in the late 80's. They launched in Harrods in 1997 and I assume a few years after in Boots as that's where I would have purchased it in possibly 1999/2000. Bentint was one of my first purchases followed shortly by High Beam, Moon Beam, Dr Feel Good and a black powdered eyeliner with a brush that you use wet - still have the brush and as I remember it was a whole lot cheaper back then haha (yes I'm old).

I haven't really used Benefit products for many years except a mini High Beam and Posie Tint (which I LOVE btw) and to be honest I haven't used the pocketpal all that much as I am not a huge gloss fan plus I find the red tint too much on my cheeks for me now. After using it again this week I actually really love it! I first just used the tint on my lips and it gave such a lovely flush of colour without looking like I slapped a lippy on. I then tried it with the gloss and it brought out the red tint so much more but with a lovely hint of sheen. No stickiness (my most hated thing in a gloss) and just pretty. The gloss doesn't last long as with most glosses but the colour stays. I think I will have to use this more! The only problem is I am worried that you have to be extra careful when opening the tint end as it could just pour out everywhere! No drunken tint applying for me...

Have you tried this product? x

Nails: Models Own Grace Green

I received my first ever Models Own polish from a lovely swapper over at Beauty Box Swaps.

Just adore this colour! It's a creamy grey/green - just gorgeous!  The formula is great too, one swipe and it was opaque - threw on two for good measure though. I haven't posted a nail post in ageees, my Seche Vite was so gloopy and I still kept using it and ruining my manicure - don't ask why I kept using it! Anyway got meself some more so all is back on track.

May have to treat myself to a few more Models Own polishes now! Recommend me a fabulous colour please x

Outfit Wish List #11

Eeek that bag is amazing AMAZING! I first discovered Jarlo last year from lusting after their dress 'Peaches' which finally made it's way into my wardrobe a few months ago. This dress is from their new collection I so so love it. Perfect cuteness of a dress - I think it would look ace paired with that lovely faux fur stole! My birthday wishlist is growing by the day! I am in need of a new pair of glads for summer and really like the look of these in brown. Always go for black but a change is as good as a rest..

Anything on your wish list this week? x

p.s I know this is a day late and even forgot last week - eep sorry!
p.p.s not entirely sure what is going on with the photos - everything posted the last 2 weeks seems to be out of focus - I cry :(

Jolie Box: April's Edition

The theme for this month is The Changing of the Seasons..

A daily cleanser for cleansing balm addicts - yep that sounds like me! Love trying new cleanser's and with ingredients including Oatmeal this sounds like right up my street! Will keep you posted..

Tropic Skincare - Skin Revive (approx 10ml) £15.95 for 30ml
If you are not aware Tropic Skincare is the brain child from Susan who was a finalist on The Apprentice last year. We were already given one of her products in maybe the second Boudoir Prive box which wasn't really for me. This face cream is firming and contains Calendula which I have been recommend to use for my sensitive skin. Am intrigued to try this as after a few dodgy pictures recently I think firming creams are the way to go haha!

Pure Fiji - Exotic Bath and Body Oil (approx 20ml)  £24.50 for 100ml
I am OBSESSED with oils at the moment and super excited to receive this multi-tasking oil that smells just divine! A lovely light coconut scent which is made in Fiji (hence the name) which also includes exotic nut extracts  - hmm where to try it first? I might do a little post on my collection of oils soon - let me know if that is of interest.

Bellapierre - Mascara (full sized) £19.99
A long lasting mascara that creates thicker and fuller lashes. I need more mascara like a hole in the head haha! Not JB's fault of course. Sounds good but I have 6 lined up - yes 6! And as I only wear it a few times a week so I only really need 1 or 2 open at a time. Maybe I should start using it more often..

A heat protective spray that last's till the next wash. Haven't used it yet but smells quite lovely! I don't often use a heat styler and when I do always forget to use a protectant. Will be definitely be trying this out!

I am really pleased with this box and will use all of the products. I do love the little mag that comes with the box now, a few good beauty tips and tricks! We also got a discount from Boticca.com and I have spied a few lovely things! Birthday wish list coming up!

Also some exciting news (well for me) I have organised a swap with a lovely French lady for the French Jolie Box! We'll be exchanging boxes in June (she is going for a Glossy Box) and I cannot wait! Their boxes always looks amazing but agh 2 months till it comes - how will I cope??!

What are your thoughts on this box? x

Lancome L'Absolu Rouge 06 Rose Nu

The lipstick was in this months Beautylishious Bag. Can't really find any information to when it was released, maybe last year? Anyway it was definitely the highlight of the contents..but enough about that..

It's a really lovely deepish rose colour in the bullet but it's not too pigmented and applies a lot lighter in colour and is also buildable.  Moisturising and lasts a couple of hours, definitely not up to par with my new love for MAC lippys though! It also has a SPF of 12 which is great.

A very pretty colour and a great for daytime wear. Not sure it would be one that I pick up often and I am not convinced to try more from Lancome mainly due to the eye watering  price tag of £21 (unless a bright pink comes my way possibly! ) but it will sit nicely amongst my little lipstick collection!

You can find more information here

Has anyone tried Lancome lipsticks? x

MAC Bronzing Powder

I have been after a decent contour powder for agggeees! I have tried a few highstreet brands and nothing has worked the way I want it too. I have been lusting after Nars Laguna which is a little pricey but when I went to order MAC Watch Me Simmer and didn't want to pay for shipping  I decided to give their bronzer's a shot.

I went for the Matte Bronze as it was for contouring. Swatched as soon as I got it and thought agh it's going to make me look orange!  Wasn't the case luckily! I don't find it too pigmented and quite buildable but do wish it would be a touch darker as more time is needed getting the right contour colour. That said I am pretty pleased with my purchase and glad I took the plunge. I do need a lot more practise at contouring mind you so any tips will be gratefully received.

I have since found out that a 17 Bronzer might be a Laguna dupe so might just have to try that one out - be silly not too eh?

Anyone rate MAC bronzer or even tried 17's?

Bargain Buy: Aldi Foundation

I have tried a few Aldi products and have always thought that are pretty good for the price but I am more than surprised by this product I have to say! I first saw this on Terri Lowes Blog and thought for £2.99 I need to give it a whirl.

I will start off with the negative which is the smell - so so floral! Ugh really not my taste but it does disappear fairly soon after applying so a small negative.

If you follow my blog then you will know I have pretty bad skin and am always looking out for the perfect coverage. There aren't unfortunately many shades, 3 in my store but there could be more throughout the other stores. I got the shade 10 transparent (the lightest) - at first I thought it might be too dark but after buffing in it was quite a good match. I found it quite buildable as I applied more to my problem zones which worked well. As you can see from the photo's this is a pretty good coverage and I am very impressed.

It left quite a dewy finish and I found powder was definitely a necessity but lasted a good 5/6 hours. I did use a primer which would have helped too.

I used more of this that I normally would with some foundations but at the price it really doesn't matter. If you can get past the smell then this is a really great cheap foundation especially for those on a budget.

Would love to know if you have tried this x

Nars Blush Douceur

This is my third Nars product and it's true what they say, third time lucky!

When I saw Amelia's post from Love Mealie on it I KNEW I needed to give Nars a last try. I have tried their illumimator and blush in Orgasm and found them a bit meh. Not bad but nothing spectacular and I was expecting sooo much more, maybe that is why it was a let down.

This is not the sort of colour I tend to pick for blushers, I go for pinks or peachy tones. This is more of a neutral/taupe/pink tone if that makes sense. It's not too pigmented and I find I can build it up a bit, which is great as lately the blushes I use have been far too pigmented and I end up looking like Aunt Sally! Lasts a good few hours and I have used it non stop since purchasing it.

My Nars faith has been restored and I look forward to trying many more products!

What is your favourite Nars product?

MAC: Watch Me Simmer

Yep third MAC lippy in as many months! If this wasn't part if Shop MAC's limited collection I would have held off - but you know when you need something you damn well need it!

This is an Amplified formulation and my favourite so far, glides on well, very moisturising and last's a good 3 hours - although I tend to not wait that long to reapply as I just like to reapply often ha!  It's a bright pinky coral and is absolutely gorgeous. With each MAC lipstick I just love them more and more! You can't quite see how bright it is on me in the picture and it's more like the colour swatched on my hand. I have been wearing if for the last three days and can't get enough!

If you have been eyeing this up I would say get it before it goes as I think this maybe 1 of 2 colour's left from the collection and definitely the best colour!

My new favourite - have you bought anything from Shop MAC's collection?

Pixie Lace

Dress: Local Shop |  Boots: Stolen from Mum  |  Tights: Primark

I wore this the other day and I apologise for the blurry photo's, not sure why, think my camera was playing up :(

I bought this dress when I was pregnant to wear after and I really have worn it to death! Just so pretty and very easy to wear. Unfortunately some of the lace has come away from the underskirt and needs sewing up. I'll just add that to my ever growing todo list..

Happy Easter everyone and hope you feel sick later from eating too many chocolate eggs ;) x

No7 Vital Enlightening Highlighter Powder

This No7 highlighter is from their recent Vital collection. I picked it up from Boots using a £5 off voucher for £8. I find this to be a champagne shade with just the right amount of shimmer and so beautiful!  It really gives you the loveliest healthy glow and I have not stopped using it since I bought it. Didn't want to touch it at first as it was so pretty but that's just silly haha!

If you are in need of a new highlighter I urge you to give this a go especially as I have just seen it on Boots website for £6.50! Bargain or what?

Have you tried this?

Outfit Wish List #10

My plan a few months ago was to not spend any money and buy this Winter Kate dress in May for my birthday. That quite clearly has not happened! Someone stop me from spending please! I continue my love affair with Jeffrey Campbell with these amazing platforms, so so cool! Throw in a fab few accessories and this would make an amazing outfit.

For some reason I my photo's are not uploading very clear. Can't work out why and it's very annoying and makes me want to cry :(

Lamb and Feta Burger with a Mint Yoghurt Dip

Ingredients - serves 4 people

Burgers

450g Lamb Mince
1/2 Onion - Finely chopped and sautéed  (leave them to cool down)
1 tsp of Ground cumin
1/2 tsp of Ground Coriander
Medium bunch of fresh Coriander - chopped and including the stalks
2 x Garlic cloves - crushed
Feta
1 x Egg - whisked slightly
Breadcrumbs - Approx 3/4 slices worth
Seasoning
Chili - Optional
Flat Bread or Buns

Spicy Wedges

Potatoes
Paprika - As much as you like
Cayenne - As much as you like
Dried Majoram and Oregano - Approx 1/2 tsp of each

Mint Yoghurt Dip

Natural or Greek Yoghurt - Approx 5 tablespoons
Small bunch of fresh Mint chopped
Lemon juice
Splash of red wine vinegar
Seasoning

Spicy Mayo

Mayo - 3 tablespoons
Cayenne - as much as you can take
Paprika - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp

Preheat oven to Gas mark 5.5, 190 degrees

Mix Lamb, onions, cumin, g.coriander, fresh coriander, garlic, seasoning and chili if you are using it. Add 3/4 of the egg and breadcrumbs and combine - if you feel you need more add the rest of the egg and breadcrumbs. Should bind well and look like below.

Cut Feta into 2cm chunks

Divide into 4 portions, take 3/4 of each portion and make a dent in the middle with the remaining 1/4 into a 'lid'. Place the feta square in the middle (see below)

Place the 'lid' over the top and squish together to make a burger shape. See below

Put the burgers in the oven with about 20 minutes to go till the wedges are cooked.

I NEVER boil potatoes before I make chips or wedges. I feel you don't necessarily need too, but do so if you wish. I just cut into wedge shapes and chuck in a bowl. Throw on some olive oil and the rest of the ingredients then shake to coat all the wedges. Put on a baking tray and into the oven for about 40/45 mins

Mix all the ingredients for the yoghurt and mayo dip (not together of course)

Use what ever flat bread/buns that you wish. I think these Thins by Warburtons go rather well, I toast them and add some salad.

Yum Yum! Enjoy!
