How to Dress in Unpredictable Weather!

British summertime weather, what a fashion nightmare eh?! My friend tweeted me the other day to ask me some tips on what to wear in this unpredictable climate. The weather really is chopping and changing so much it's really hard to decide on what to wear and take out with you so I thought I'd share a few of my tips.

I am one of those 'just in case' people, my bag is full of things I might not really use or need but you just never know!

1. First things first. If you are going out for the day or even just work a big bag is essential. You want something with a comfy strap and one you can preferably wear on your shoulder. You'll need the room to hide your regular bag essentials and the next few items.

2. Seems a little ironic writing this today as it's scorching but a summer scarf is essential item number 2! My brother and his girlfriend (no doubt her choosing) bought me a gorgeous Oliver Bonas scarf for my birthday. It's thin and lightweight and will roll up into a small ball and hide away in your bag until the weather decides to take a turn for the worst. I hate my neck being cold, legs and arms no problem so this is definitely something I need!

3. We have had a lot of rain lately so an umbrella is a must! Doesn't have to be expensive and the smaller the better, I usually get mine from Primark and they do tend to last a while.

4. Another essential is a lightweight jacket. Generally even with rain in the summer it's not that cold - unless you are in Scotland maybe so a cropped, blazer or maybe a linen jacket is all you need. You will want it lightweight as if that sun decides to pop it's head out you'll need to be holding that pesky jacket - and it will become pesky but of course if it turns cold you'll be patting yourself on the back for remembering it!

5. Not an essential but if you are worried it's going to rain you need to choose your footwear carefully. Gladiators, ballet pumps, sandals, flip flops etc are just going to let you end up with wet feet! Choose brogues, closed wedges, low ankle boots and if like me you hate hot feet and have room in your Mary Poppins Bag, carry a pair of flip flops in hope that that sun will come out!

6. Hmm now what to actually wear?! Maxi dresses + rain = wet dress = wet you which in my book is not cool man. Midi dresses and skirts will keep you warmish and also cool if it gets hot. If you are a jeans/trouser wearer then wear them cropped or turned up. You can always turn them down if your ankles feel the frost. If you fancy wearing a shorter skirt/dress but concerned about a chill at night time, carry a thin pair of 3/4 length leggings or footless or regular tights - this is something I use to do a lot pre-child on my day to night outings!

So that's about it folks! I have put together three outfits below to get an idea of what I mean. Hope you like them!

1. Tan Shopper  |  2. Moccasins  |  3.  Dress  |  4. Denim Jacket   |  5. Scarf

1. Tee  |  2. Floral Blazer   |  3. Scarf  |  4. Bag  |  5. Skirt  |  6. Shoes

1. Lace Top  |  2. Faux Leather Jacket  |  3. Pink Jeans  |  4. Scull Scarf   |  5. Yellow Shopper   |  6. Boots

Hope this was helpful! Let me know your thoughts thanks! x

Revlon Colorburst Coral Lipstick - MAC Sail La Vie Dupe?

As I was buying a million other products in Boots I had a peek at the Revlon stand and instantly picked up this lipstick shade in Coral and as they had a 3 for 2 I thought I may as well pick up a gloss and nail varnish to match - post's coming soon for those beauty's!

When I got home I thought it looked strangely familiar and pulled out my MAC Sail La Vie and swatched them side by side and they do look very alike!

The MAC is a slightly thicker formula, the Revlon has more of a glossy sheen and a touch more orange tone to it. Sail La Vie is my current fav lippy and I pretty much wear it all the time so I am glad I have found this as a back up as SLV was part of a collection and not available - booo!

So if you didn't manage to get a hold of Sail La Vie then definitely get this!

Do you think it's a good match?

St Tropez Perfect Legs Self Tan Review

St Tropez is not a brand I have used before. I did however buy one of those mini sets a few years ago but was to scared to use it haha! I have used gradual tanning moisturisers for years and since taking the plunge to try fake tans last year I have a bit more confidence in using them and so was pretty glad to have this product feature in She Said Beauty Box.

The idea is to spray this on, leave to dry and the colour should develop after a few hours. I have an old bed sheet which I lay on the floor each time I fake tan and used a tanning mitt to blend in but still managed to get a few 'patches' on my feet oops! It has a 360 degree spray which means you can hold it in all sorts of angles and it will still spray out well which is fab! It dried very very quickly, pretty impressed. The colour didn't take too long to develop either and after an hour I didn't think it was dark enough so sprayed another layer on. The after photo is the result with two application's and approximately three hours after the first application.

It developed into a lovely glow which lasted till my next shower - which was the next day by the way and found no colour transference. It is really easy to use and a great product if you are in need a swash of colour and are short on time. I have used roughly a third possible a quarter and at £10 for 75ml it is quite pricey! Will see how long this bottle lasts and decide on repurchasing then as I like it but hmm I don't think it will last too long. I have found it here  for £7.50 which is a little more affordable.

Have you tried this product and what are your thoughts?

Disco Pant Dupe? Don't Mind If I do..

Top: Miss Selfridge  |  Trousers: Very  |  Shoes: Next  |  Earrings: Possibly Matalan

I have been admiring the ever-so-popular American Apparel Disco Pants for awhile now and see person after person giving in and buying them. But at the extortionate price of £70 I couldn't justify it, even when ASOS have 20% off...

Then someone on Twitter (sorry to whoever it was as I can't remember) tweeted about these baby's from Very for a bargainous price of £35! Would be rude not to right?!

Now as I have been admiring them from afar I am not entirely sure how they compare but judging by pictures I believe these do a very good impersonation, probably not as shiny but that isn't a problem for me. They are quite um tight and not ideal if you want to actually eat so I decided to go up a size, perfect and there is definitely room for dessert ;)

I am a bit bored of wearing jeans when we are in the colder months so these make a great addition to my wardrobe! Hmm now do I get the blue version too?

Disclaimer - I wouldn't normally post a picture of my ahem bottom! But I thought you might like to see the similarities from behind!

Cleansing Duds

Now I've never had the urge to rush to my computer and put up a post, but there is always a first time and tonight is that time!

I am a bit of a sucker for a rave product in the beauty world and these two products are no exception. I tried  the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish from a sample I had a few months ago. Tried it once and put it to the side as I felt it wasn't anything special. Of course I would need to test it out for longer so I picked it up again and four days later I purchased the full size along with the tonic and moisturiser.

I do believe it has helped my skin somewhat (less dry mainly) and I stopped using the muslin cloths as they were too harsh for my skin but I was still left with a red blotchy appearance. This I put this down to par of the course for having sensitive skin, that was until I spoke to skincare guru Caroline from Beauty Mouth who said the Rosemary in C&P is what is leaving me with red skin (this wasn't what I had originally asked her). So stumped I had a look to see what else I had to replace C&P and since Saturday have been using Decleor Aroma Cleanse and have definitely noticed a difference in the redness on my skin. I don't think this is a bad cleanser and I am a little upset to be honest that I can't use it but it's just no good for me. I have still been using the tonic and moisturiser as they don't seem to have Rosemary in it ( I think!).

Now onto my second and possibly worst cleanser I have ever tried (and trust me there have been a few). I bought the Bioderma a few weeks ago and just couldn't wait to try it. I had heard so many fantastic things that I thought this was going to be AMAZING! Um well I was wrong...

The first time I had tried it I thought it was a little drying but you know you have to give these things a little more time. I felt the same the second time but as it took off my makeup brilliantly I decided to keep it for that reason and use my Caudalie cleansing water for...well...cleansing ( I use this at night btw). The last few nights my eyes have sore, dry and itchy but I put it down to hayfever and went and bought some eye drops today. Two hours ago I went to take my makeup off and my eyes are STILL sore and dry, I have even used the eye drops to no avail. My eyes were fine and as soon as I used the Bioderma this is what happened. NO WAY JOSE am I using that again. I have never had such a bad reaction to something and I have sensitive skin!

So the moral of the story is don't always believe the hype :D and do check out Carolines blog, she knows her stuff and isn't afraid to tell you what's what (a good thing imo!)

Sorry this is long winded but I just needed to vent! So recommendations for milk or balm cleansers please! No mineral oil, sulfats or rosemary! Not asking much huh?! Thank you muchly xx

This really has to be the longest post written. Sorry about that..

Yellow Daisies

Top: ASOS  |  Shorts: Hearts & Bows  |  Shoes: Primark  |  Necklace: Primark

This was yesterday's outfit when there WAS SUN! Back to grey and miserable today, just lovely!

The shorts are a new purchase from Ark for a bargainous £8. They are quite thin material and 'airy' which is great for hotter days as I hate having too many clothes on.

I'll be cooking a lamb stew for dinner as the weather is rubbish, never have I made such a wintery dish in June...

Essie Turquoise & Caicos

I went into Boots after TOWIB on Saturday looking to get Essie Mint Candy Apple and came out with this, Ballet Slippers and few other things I most certainly did not need!

Turquoise & Caicos was sitting next to Mint Candy Apple looking at me with sad eyes calling at me to buy! I guess MCA is a little more popular and I have never heard of this colour before. So I picked this one up instead as it looked a little more brighter.

As with all Essie's I have tried it applies like a dream and I am on day 5 with no chipage!  Although does look a little rough around the edges so will be applying Ballet Slippers tonight as I haven't had 'bare' nails for quite some time!

Hope everyone is enjoying the heat we seldom do see in the UK of late!

French Jolie Box: 1st Birthday June 2012

There is a Facebook page called 'Be a Beauty Correspondent'  where you can team up with someone from say France and swap beauty boxes. I met the lovely Chris and arranged a swap of Jolie Box for me and Glossy Box for her. I have been waiting patiently since April!

The lovely Chris sent me a beautiful card (how cute is it?) and wow a massive bundle of samples to try - luckily I had stashed away some for her too!

So in the box we have the Jolie and a Grazia mag, Grazia is my favourite magazine ever! I do wish I remember more of what I learnt of French at school so I could actually read it!

First on the list is Clarins After Sun Moisturiser - love Clarins and looking forward trying this, that is if the sun comes out enough to warrant and after sun!

Rene Furterer Carthame Hair Mask  - Never heard of the brand and love a hair mask so this will be great to try. It has a lovely light scent to it too.

L'Occitane Hand Cream Pivoine Flora - I already own a mini (and these are mini) L'Occitane hand cream and know that they are a lovely product! This one has a gorgeous rose scent.

Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Varnish in 210 Ethereal - I like Rimmel nail varnishes and think they are really good value for money but have already had this colour and didn't really like it which is a shame.

Also in the box is a nail file (can't have too many of them) and a heart shaped candle - no smell but cute!

A lovely box but worthy of a 1st anniversary box? I'll leave that up to you...

And a massive thank you to the lovely Chris for arranging the swap! xx

MUA The Undressed Palette - Swatches

So the newest palette from MUA looks strangely familiar! Hmm quite quite put my finger on it...

I only have one of their palettes and a couple of single shadows but totally rate them! For £4 a palette you can't go wrong and I much prefer these to say ELF as I find pigmentation isn't always up to scratch.

There are three matte shades (1, 3, 5) although shade one shows up as shimmer with the flash. Apart from shade 3 and 4 these shadows are super pigmented! You have more warmer shades with a couple of cooler  and a great black shade. My favourites are 3, 7 and 9. Shade 1 is great for a base colour.

The shimmer shades are a lot more muted than the Urban Decay Naked Palette, which is more up my street as I found that too um blingy for me for day to day use. There also isn't as much fall out as the UD palette which is a pet peeve of mine so another point to MUA. I have only used the shadows with a eye primer and get a good six plus hours wear out of them. Pretty impressive for a £4 palette!

I totally love this palette, have you decided to buy one?

You can only buy it from MUA on line until July when it will be available in Superdrug

Topshop Lipstick: Infrared

I have wanted this lippy for ages but every time I go into Topshop they don't have it and I refuse to pay the postage for it! So when I saw it in a blog sale I knew it had to be mine bwahaha!

They claim it to be a orange red but I find it to be just orange really, possibly a hint of red but not what I was expecting. Either way it is a lovely colour! I do need a full face on otherwise it looks a bit ahem odd on me but that really isn't a problem haha! I don't find it lasts as long as the other Topshop lippy's I have which is a little annoying but if I have to apply often then apply I will!

Any Topshop lippy fans out there??

I Moustache You A Question..

Top: Primark   |   Skirt: New Look   |  Necklace: Birthday Gift  |  Sunnies: Topshop  |  Shoes: Stylist Pick

Ah so lovely for the sun to be out today! How long do we reckon it will last or was that it for the month?!

I was going to take the pictures outside but I had the camera set up ready for new items I will be adding to Honey Go-Lightly so it was just easier for me to take them inside, plus I have finally found thee place I can take them indoors with the best setting. Only taken me six months haha!

I love a good comedy moustache (I may show you a couple of pictures one day) and when I saw this in Primark I just couldn't not get it! This maxi from New Look is perfect for what I have been after for ages, love it!

Hope you all had a lovely day and you can still enter my giveaway (on the right) x

Goats Cheese and Spinach Tart

Ingredients
500g Shortcrust Pastry
110g Fresh baby Spinach - softened
4 Eggs
250ml Milk
1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
Good pinch Nutmeg
Half Onion chopped
2 Garlic Cloves - Crushed
150g Goats Cheese
25g Parmesan Cheese - Grated
Lemon rind from half a lemon
Seasoning

Tools
Flan tin with a loose bottom ( I used a 23")
Baking paper
Baking Beans

Pre-heat the oven to Gas Mark 4/180 degrees

Rub some butter or a spray oil onto the flan tin (this stops it from sticking)
Roll out the pastry and place over tin - make sure there is enough pastry hanging over the edges as it will shrink.
Place baking paper over the top and add the baking beans
Bake for 10/15mins then take the beans and paper off and bake for another 5 minutes

Meanwhile soften the onion and garlic in a pan - try not to get colour on the onions

Whisk the eggs and milk lightly in a bowl
Add the spinach, nutmeg, cayenne, onion, garlic, parmesan, lemon rind and seasoning

Take the tart casing out of the oven and leave to cool for a couple of minutes
Break up and add 80% of the goats cheese on the bottom (save the rest to sprinkle on top)

Add the mix to the pastry then sprinkle the rest of the goats cheese on top
Bake for about 40mins or until the pastry and tart is cooked

Serve with salad and crusty bread, enjoy!

Ciate Jelly Bean

This beautiful Ciate Polish was free with Marie Claire (UK) this month, along with a few other colours which I didn't succumb too (they're still available so go get your grubby mitts on it if you haven't already!).
It's a gorgeous neon fuchsia pink which I am totally smitten with. I have used Ciate just once before and the brush wide but not too wide and find it gives a perfect application. Two coats was enough and I added a slick of Seche Vite over the top.

The best thing about Ciate is the packaging - how adorable is the bottle with the bow? Would look fab if you like to keep your polishes on show.

Do you have any Ciate shades you love?

Topshop Blush: Flush

It's not often I am near any Topshops that sell makeup, so when I am near one, I'm straight in there. I was on the lookout for another lipstick after loving a recent Topshop lipstick purchase, but the colour I wanted was sold out - boo hiss!

I couldn't go out empty handed so I picked up a cream blush in flush. I really love the polka dot packaging, simple and cute. The blush is a handy size and comes with a mirror so perfect to pop in your bag for retouches during the day.

The colour in the pan is a bright hot pink - gorgeous but I am seriously obsessed with hot pinks at the moment. It does look scary at first and as it's quite pigmentated but blends out well with no chance of Aunt Sally making an appearance! You can also build it up for a stronger colour if you fancy. I don't find it to be long lasting unfortunately, 3/4 hours max but if you don't mind retouching then I say give this a go as it also feels lovely on the skin.

For £6 I think this product is reasonably priced and adds fuel to my Topshop makeup addiction! Do you rate their blushes?
