Revlon Plum Night

Another poundland bargain me lovelies! It's a gorgeous deep plum shade, the brush is on the thin side so not the easiest to apply but dries well and last's a few days with no chipping.

Hail all poundland's!

Anyone been grabbing some poundland bargains lately?

Outfit Wish list #16

3. Skirt

Nothing like a blingy skirt to brighten up your Friday! How fab is it?! I wish it was bigger otherwise I'd snap it up. It would go really well with a cropped black jumper or one with a fun moustache motif like above. I've had these Jeffrey Campbell shoes saved in my wish list for ages. I really don't think they would be to everyone's taste but I think they are amazing! The bracelet caught my eye the other day, love the vintage look to it and it's definitely in my price range. Hmm.....

What's on your wish list?

Chickpea, Spinach and Chorizo Stew

I found this recipe on Mumsnet last year sometime but have adapted it a little bit. Very easy and it makes enough for 6 people - I store portions in the freezer for lazy days!

Ingredients
Tin of chopped tomotoes
Tin of chickpeas
400mls chicken stock
100g fresh spinach
1 medium onion finely chopped
Half a pepper chopped (any colour)
100g Chorizo (the cured sausage kind) peeled, sliced and halved
2 cloves of garlic crushed - more for garlic fiends!
Bouquet Garni
1 teaspoon Paprika
1/4 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
Splash of red wine vinegar
Tablespoon of tomato puree

You can of course easily make this a veggie dish by using veg stock and omitting the chorizo or as Sugarpuffish  just mentioned, use a veggie sausage :)

1. Saute onion, garlic and pepper for a few minutes - don't add too much oil as the chorizo will add quite a        bit.
- Add the Chorizo and cook for a few more minutes
2. Add chopped tomatoes, stock, red wine vinegar, tom puree, bouquet garni, both paprika's and seasoning
- Bring to the boil and simmer on a low heat for around 30 minutes

3. Add the chickpeas and cook for another 10 minutes
4. Add the spinach, cover and cook for 5 minutes
 - Uncover and stir in spinach

I think this is best served with rice, Enjoy!

Elf Powder Brush Review

I had heard many things about this brush and I wanted to order it when they had 50% off but it was all sold out boooo! Anyway they ended up having a discounted postage code and with a few of the most popular bits that I wanted was in stock I made a sneaky order. I mean lets face it, it's hardly expensive and everytime there is a big discount the popular items are out of stock!

So the review! Well I wasn't expecting much but I am so pleasantly surprised with this brush I cannot tell you...but I will. The bristles are taklon and super soft and just a pleasure to use. It has a fairly big diameter and blends in foundation seamlessly. It is a 'powder' brush but is quite clearly made for buffing in foundation in my eyes! I can honestly say I have not reached for my Real Techniques Buffing Brush since I purchased this.

So far I have not experienced any fall out and it's very easy to clean. For £3.75 I would say it's a bloody bargain and you need you get your hands on it! I have been so impressed with elf at the moment, I seriously think they have upped their game without upping the price too much.

You can purchase it here

Are you an elf fan, of the brand, not the guys with pointed hats ;)

Outfit Wish List #15

1. Shoes
4. Blouse
5. Watch

I have been lusting after hot pink pointy shoes lately! These River Island ones are the perfect colour but a bit too high. Sooo any help in finding a lower heel will be much appreciated. Ta :D

I am a bit late to the floral print trouser trend but here I am! Love these from H&M, classy with an edge. I do think you need a plain top with printed trousers and this floaty shirt goes really well. Especially when you pair it with this Egyptian style statement piece. Another item I have been wanting is a Rose Gold watch. They seem to be everywhere at the moment and I NEED ONE! OK maybe not a Michael Kors as it a little pricey but I must find similar.

Anything on your wish list this weekend?

Also not long left to enter my MAC and Pilgrim giveaway. Link on the side bar..

Aromatherapy Associates Rose Hydrating Mist Review

Aromatherapy Associates was established in 1985 by Co-Founders Geraldine Howard and Sue Beechey who had both started out as therapists in the 1970's. You can read their Philosophy for the brand here. AA is a brand I have just recently heard of. I was given their exfoliating cleanser as part of the Beauty Bible testing I signed up for recently (a post to follow for that).

The rose hydrating mist* is a moisturising and renewing mist containing Damsak Rose Water which is distilled from the delicate petals of thousands of Bulgarian Roses. There aren't many other ingredients used, Phenoxyethanol, Geraniol and Citronellol.

I found it hydrating and very light on the face. Instantly refreshes and tightens the skin after cleansing or during the day to refresh your makeup. The product itself is lovely to use but I just can't get on with the smell. Too strong and a faint whiff of Tequila?! Just me possibly ha!

You can find it here for £19

Have you tried anything from Aromatherapy Associates?

My Potato Salad

I have been making this recipe for a few years now. It always goes down well at BBQ's (sorry might be a bit late posting this for UK readers!) and is easy to make.

Ingredients
New Potatoes - about 750g quartered and boiled for 8-10 minutes till soft but not too soft as you don't want it to go mushy - cool them in the fridge for at least half an hour as it's easier to mix when cold
2 x cooked rashers of bacon chopped
2 x hard boiled eggs
English Mustard - about a teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon Paprika
Majoram - This is fine to omit
Mayonnaise
2 x Spring onion sliced finely
Pinch of sugar
Seasoning

1. Mash the 2 boiled eggs in a bowl
2. Add a few tablespoons of mayonnaise, the mustard, paprika, sugar and seasoning. Also a sprinkling of Majoram if using. Mix and taste, add any extra seasoning as you see fit.

Mix the rest of the ingredients in and taste. Then I'll think you'll find you have a scrummy potato salad!

Serve with a smorgasbord full BBQ chicken, meat and the obligatory burnt sausages....

Aldi Nail Varnish: Peppermint

I do like to have a bit of a perv at the makeup when I pop into Aldi. I think they make excellent products for great value. One of my favourite foundations is from them. I've bypassed the nail varnishes as I always think I have enough and don't need anymore but I do end up buying them from elsewhere so I decided what the hell I may as well pick one up as they are only £2...

The colour is gorgeous and this took one coat, YES ONE COAT! Amazing! So creamy and easy to use. No problems with the brush, it was wide and thick enough but not so much you make a mess. With a top cot this lasted 4 days before I took it off with no chips. I will definitely pick up some more colours!

Aldi you are seriously up there my friends. And if you haven't tried out their foundation I urge you give it a shot. You can view my review here.

Have you tried anything from Aldi?

What's In My Travel Bag?

I am going away for the weekend tomorrow and I thought I'd show you what I am taking.

I attended Grace and Eva's #livebloggers event on Tuesday which was so much fun and got to meet some fabulous bloggers! Anyway the goody bag was amazing so I am taking a few bits from it and one of the lovely items was this Dirty Works wash bag. Perfect timing eh?!

As you can see I have quite a few sample products so decided to take some along to use up. If I was taking full size I wouldn't take so many things haha!

So a quick run down. Makeup wise I am not taking too much. Nars foundation, YSL mascara, Benefit primer and high beam are all sample sizes. Elf under eye concealer and brow kit (probably don't necessarily need that!) Benefit cream eyeshadow, Inika black eyeliner*, Revlon just bitten balm, Bobbi Brown concealer, Clarins powder, a couple of brushes and my fav blush by Kanebo* - see review here

I am most probably taking too many beauty products, ah well! For hair I have a mini Bumble and Bumble salt spray* - I won't bother blow drying my hair so I'll spray this in for texture. I have L'Occitane shampoo and conditioner (fab products!) but not enough conditioner so taking a sachet of Davines Volumnising conditioner*. I also have L'Occitane's shower oil.

For the face I have  Ren's cleansing gel and day cream. I also have 2 small samples of Elemis day and night cream but not enough hence the Ren and a Matis mini night cream. Murad serum, L'Occitane  toner, Benefit eye potent and Elemental Herbology eye serum and last but not least the Etat Pur cleansing water and blemish treatment.

A couple of random's - Monu Rose mist, Tangle Teezer, Sure deodorant, soap sample, Ahava body lotion, hand sanitiser, White Glo toothpaste, Figs and Grape hand cream, Dr Bronners sample, Fendi perfume sample, Green People's face spf and Muji cotton wool pads.

Phew, hope that wasn't too boring! Hopefully I'll use up most of the samples as I am fed up of looking at them and  I thought they would all fit it in the one bag but um obviously not!

Would you take this much for a weekend away?

Miinto Wish List

2. Dress

Having a peruse through the womens clothing on Miinto lately I came across a few gems. I just adore the sequin jacket, perfect for a night on the town and to jazz up any outfit.  I think the clash of the peach dress and the orange clutch go well, the clutch would definitely fit any outfit. How amaze is that necklace?!

Open wedges are probably not something everyone is looking for now as we are coming into winter (UK that is) but chuck on a pair of black tights and you've edged up your outfit and kept your legs warm!

They have a good range of trendy clothes so it's worth checking them out!

Do you have anything on your wish list?

Flavr Box

Flavr Box is a little different to the usual subscription boxes I have been ordering as this one is full of scrummy food! Have to say this excited me a little more....

I came across them from Danielle's Blog and with a half price code I thought it would be a nice little treat for all of us rather than just me haha! It is normally £20 a month or you can buy a longer subscription with a little discount and you'll receive a fabulous box each month. Sarah from Sarah Bakes described it as a food festival in a box and it certainly is that! They give you a little welcome letter and a 'meet the makers' leaflet with details of the producers who have provided the goods.

Right the contents!
Bonny Mallows Marshmallow dipper and Marshmellow Pop
Gustosecco Elderflower Rice Pudding and Spanish Garden Paella
Eat 17 Chili Bacon Jam
The Relish In Spice Co Wasabi Mustard
Peter's Yard Swedish Cripbreads

I have made the Paella and it's incredibly yummy and stupidily easy to make. You basically throw the ingredients in a pan with water and let it cook, highly recommend if you are short on time to cook or don't enjoy cooking etc. I added white wine in place of some of the water, chorizo and prawns but would be fine on it's own and definitely enough for 3 portions. Have yet to make the rice pudding, it's for 6 people so will wait for guests to come over.

The marshmallow sticks look delicious, I will be (trying) to share this with the toddler but I know he will want  them all to himself!

I am Looking forward to trying the mustard, I'm thinking of putting a dollop in mash potato but will try and think of something a bit more exciting!

The Chili Bacon Jam smells amazing! I will be making burgers tomorrow and will use this, expect a post soon.

I don't want to be without these crispbreads EVER! Even the husband has been scouring the internet looking for someone that sells them without the £5 delivery charge....yes really! But as I have just found out they are stocked in a few health stores etc and you can find the list here. Phew as I was already getting withdrawals!

Hopefully it still works but HALFPRICE2012 should get you 50% off your first box. Find them here and I think you definitely need to try them out!

Will you be trying Flavr Box?

Paralympics 2012

Picture heavy post!

I was lucky enough to get tickets for the Paralympics on Thursday for the Athletics. Can't tell you how amazing it was to be there! Although the Stadium is massive is just felt smaller once sitting in our seats. We saw a few GB win their heats, can't get better than that! Definitely an awe-aspiring day that I won't forget!
