Matis Paris Lip Balm Review

Upon sight this lip balm looks pretty plain and and well erm you're right ha. But it smells lovely and so moisturising! I have found it to be a holy grail product to use underneath matte lipsticks. It leaves no stickiness or lip balm residue and makes applying a matte lipstick a doodle. Goes on smooth and does not show up any dry areas.

The main culprit was my Illamasqua lipsticks and I couldn't use them till this little miracle, so thanks Matis! Unfortunately they don't have it on their website yet but told me they are working on it.

Have you heard of Matis?

Cetuem 254

I picked this up when I went to Olympia Beauty last month. I was seduced by the colour and had to have it!

This polish only has a number and no name, bit of a gripe for me! This took a couple of coats and dried pretty quickly, nice formula but not the best polish I have ever used. I have realised that this type of pink just doesn't suit my skin tone. I have a few dusky pinks or similar and they just don't look right on me. Boooo!

Not sure I will be picking up any more polishes from Cetuem. Have you tried them?

New Romantic

Dress: OASAP  |  Trousers: H&M  |  Boots: Ellos  |  Necklace: Primark  |  Ring: Accessorize

I bought this 'dress' in the OASAP sale. I say dress in inverted commas as it only comes in one size as as you can probably tell it's a leeeetle too small for me! Now I'm not exactly a giant so anyone that is taller than 4 foot 9 could not wear this as a dress! However it's cute and works well as a top.

I'm loving my faux leather legging/trousers from H&M! I had a pair from Topshop last year but they made me look like a weeble so I sold them on!

Happy Monday! I'm off to see Bat for Lashes tonight and I can't wait. Eeeek!

Garlic & Herb Butter Recipe for the Freezer

For me, this scrummy butter is a freezer staple. I think I have been making it for a year or so now and can't imagine not!  Easy to make, easy to store and will last ages.

Ingredients
1 block of unsalted butter - you need it at room temperature
Bunch of Oregano
Bunch of Basil
1-1/2 bulbs of Garlic - I use 1 & 1/2 bulbs but I am bit of a garlic fiend so add as little or as much as you can take ;)
Cling Film

If you have a kitchen Aid or similar with a paddle attachment then use that otherwise use a bowl and wooden spoon but make sure the butter is very soft otherwise it can take a little time.

Cut the butter into smaller chunks and pop them in the bowl
Finely chop the herbs and chuck them in too
Crush all the garlic into the bowl

Mix baby, mix!

You should end up with a evenly herb & garlic distributed butter like below

Roll out some cling film like below and make a sausage shape out of the butter and place it at the edge - try to make sure the butter is packed together as much as possibly as this aides cutting once frozen

Roll the butter in the cling film which should look something like below

This is ready to stick in the freezer. You can take this out and slice as much as you need with the cling film still on and while frozen (just remember to use a sharp knife and take care).

I mainly use this for garlic bread  - cut a few slices and leave to defrost. Cut a baguette in half and spread a thick layer of the butter on. Put the baguette back together and cover with foil. Bake in oven at Gas mark 6/200 degrees for 10-12 minutes

This butter is also fab melted onto freshly cooked steak or throw in a slice or two when frying up some prawns (add a touch of oil too so the butter doesn't burn) and great for homemade Chicken Kiev!

Hope you liked this recipe and do let me know if you make it :)

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush in Flush Review & Swatch

I have wanted to try Daniel Sandler's watercolour blush for ages. I always hear good things about it and the blogger in me was intrigued, very intrigued indeed! Hairtrade.com who is one of the leading UK's retailers of hair extensions, hair care and beauty products kindly sent me this to give a whirl.

I chose Flush*,  a lovely natural pink shade which looks darker in the packaging. It comes in a small bottle with 15mls inside which is actually bigger than I thought it would be. I know Daniel Sandler has a brush to compliment this product in the shape of an angled blusher brush but as I have a similar style from e.l.f I decided to use that instead. You can of course also use your fingers to blend.

You need to give the bottle a good shake before using as the colour and water separate. I applied a blob to the top of the brush before lightly applying to the apples of my cheeks - lightly is definitely the key here. The tiniest bit is all you need, it's not too noticeable in the picture but in real life it looks a look more pigmented on the cheeks. The liquid dries down to a powder finish and as the name suggests leaves you with a lovely flush of colour. Very natural and pretty.

It lasted  from the time I applied late morning to the time I took my makeup off around 8pm which is a  pretty decent amount of time. The bottle is also going to last for a very long time as you only need a teeny tiny bit!

I am really impressed with this blush and may have to try a few other shades out. You can purchase it from Hairtrade for £14.50

Have you tried anything from Daniel Sandler?

GlamGlow Exfoliating Mud Mask Review

”GlamGlow

GlamGlow has been doing the rounds in the beauty world as a holy grail product lately. I have not heard a bad word said so far. I was lucky enough to receive a sample when I attended the #Livebloggers event the other month.

GlamGlow* is a clay exfoliating mask that claims to leave your skin noticeably radiant and glowing . It contains French Sea Clay, Volcanic Rock and Green Tea Leaf Pieces. They say to apply 5ml worth but I managed two applications with a bit left over as I didn't want to apply too much in case it irritated my skin. I would say you don't need to use as much as they suggest anyway.

It's fairly easy to apply and the first minute I experienced some tingling, it wasn't too strong but I did panic for a second and thought about taking it off but by then the tingling stopped. It dried fairly quickly and tightened the skin while leaving you with a feeling of all the impurities being sucked out (this is what I love about clay mask's). I left it on for the recommended 15 minutes and used a damp flannel to lightly take off the mask in circular motions while taking advantage of the exfoliating particles. I have to say I did notice a difference once off, my skin felt smooth and looked glowy. I had read it was meant to leave you with a three day glow but that wasn't the case for me and I can't seem to find anywhere on their site that mentions it either. The second application was a little different. Once I took the mask off my skin flared up a little. This could have been to exfoliating too harshly but I think in reality this is probably a bit too strong for my sensitive skin.

Most of the ingredients are of the natural kind and they state to be 99% Paraben free and they also contain Phenoxyethanol, which is banned in Japan and I am still reading up on the downsides to this - you can find this ingredient in a few natural products in the place of Parabens.

Overall I did enjoy using the mask but do I think it's worth the price? Hmm jury is out on that one but I do think it does what it say's on the tin. You can buy it from their site or Beauty Bay have a huge discount on it at the moment!

Have you tried or are interested in trying this?

Kate Moss Matte Lipstick 110 Review & Swatch

So after purchasing 107 - see review here - I regretted not picking up 110 so made a stop to Superdrug the other day to nab that!

110 (still hate that there are no names!) is a beautiful red with a slight orange tone - oh yes my favourite kinda of tone! As a matte, again this isn't too drying (but a little more than 107) and glides on while still moisturising a touch. The colour is gorgeous and fit's nicely in my little red/orange lipstick stash haha (I can never have too many). This colour sticks around for awhile but I found the stain it leaves is a little patchy so I would re-apply more often.

Have you picked up anything from this range yet?

Jolie Box: October 2012 Edition

So for a change my Jolie Box turned up on time. Lately I have been waiting a week or more!

This month's theme is Pure and Natural. My kinda theme! When I attended the L'Occitane event I was asked about what brands/products I would like to see in the box, I said I would love to see a all natural box so here it is yay!

First off is a full size Ritessens Cleansing milk. I've not heard of the French brand before which is a win for me as I love trying new brands! This is 98.7% natural and contains Argan Oil which I am a big fan of so can't wait to try this out. I couldn't really find much info online as to where to buy apart from Pharmacies in France so have no idea how much it is or even if you can buy it from the UK.

Secondly is the Moa Green Balm which is a 100% natural healing balm. This has been featured in boxes before and a great balm. Last time I gave it to my Dad as he has Rosacea and it helped quite a bit so I think I'll pass him this too. 50ml is £10.

Also we received a lip balm by Jason. I use their shampoo and conditioner which is great. The lip balm smells like After Eights and is very moisturising. I love it! It retails at £1.99.

I am not a huge herbal tea drinker (need the caffine!) but every now and then it's nice to have a warm cuppa in the evening so these tea's from Lov Organic will do nicely. They are packed with antioxidants and zinc and smell amazing!

And last but definitely least we see our old friends Balance Me. I am by no way happy to see this brand yet again! Seriously how do they make any money if all they do is give away products for boxes and magazines! I wouldn't mind so much if I actually liked the products but alas I think they are a leeetle bit crap. This time we have the balancing face moisturiser.

So this month is definitely much better than the past two, apart from the you know who I am quite pleased with the products!

Do you get Jolie Box, what did you think?

Flora Bora

Dress: H&M  |  Tights: Primark  |  Necklace: Ebay  |  Ring: Ebay  |  Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

I bought this H&M dress on a whim a few months ago. So glad I did as it's comfy and great for the cooler weather at the moment. The zip detailing just adds a bit of something to a plain black dress. I paired it with these floral tights I've had for years and only worn once as I have never really had anything to wear them with! Shock Horror!

The necklace and ring I bought from a Hong Kong Ebay seller. The necklace is a world and pair of binoculars - just love it! The ring is too small or too big for any of my fingers so I've been wearing on the tips for summat a bit different....

Hope you all have a lovely day. I'm off to London Zoo! I'll be instagramming so if you'd like to see some pictures of cute animals follow me @honeygolightly :)
